Meeting with Councillors

On Thursday 18 October members of the committee met with councillors Karen McCarthy (Selly Oak) and Lisa Trickett (King’s Heath & Moseley) for an update on the position regarding the Fields and the proposals for development.

It was a positive meeting in which the councillors made it clear that no proposals for the fields were currently being actively considered, and if any kind of proposals do come up in the future, they will be subject to consultation by the local community and other stakeholders. The Friends of the Fields is now recognised as representing the local community and as one of those stakeholders it will have a voice in this. The councillors view of Pebble Mill/Holders Lane Fields is that as an iconic part of the civic heritage of Birmingham, its value to all stakeholders needs to be maximised. It is for us as Friends of the Fields to make clear what we think is acceptable and unacceptable.
